1 dof Flutter of single axis solar trackers
Using the 4th generation of the “FOGGY-TRACK_FW” our rsearchers (ESOLIA&SOLTRACK Team) has developed the first ever visualization of the cycle of this aeroelastic instability, triggered by the effect of the wind on the single-axis solar trackers (SAT’s). Despite the small scale of the device, it matches the similarity laws. You do not want to miss the Doctoral Thesis by Carlos Rodríguez-Casado.
FOGGY-TRACK_FW
“FOGGY-TRACK_FW” is the best ever portable smoke wind tunnel (even for aeroelastic phenomena) intended to make the flow visible (and, as the most powerful application, to show the the wind on the single-axis solar trackers (SAT’s) undergpoin "galloping" or torsional instability. The official release took place in June at Intersolar 2024, Munich (Germany) by ESOLIA&SOLTRACK Team. The event was sponsored by "Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Mieres", the Polytechnic School of Mieres and Praxia Energy S. L.

#formulawindy gathers all our work related to (but not only) Wind Tunnel tests (Aeroelasticity & Aerodynamics, Hydraulic Machinery, Wind Engineering, Pollutant Dispersion, Aeroacustics, even Water Tunnel tests included) and it is formed exclusively by Professors and Researchers with the Department of Energy and GIFD (Spanish Official Research Group) of the University of Oviedo.
